Arts and Culture

Our neighbors across Devon, Uncommon Ground, have a great calendar of music and other events-but they close earlier than we do! So after hearing some music, come across the street for a nightcap.

Rogers Park and Edgewater have a lot to offer people interested in local art and culture. There are several theatres and cultural organizations nearby and there are several neighborhood festivals. Many of our regulars are involved in them. And what, really, is better than seeing a cool play and then walking to your local pub to have a drink and discuss the show?

Check ‘em all out.

Great Reviews for the New Play at Lifeline: Lifeline Theatre specializes in literary adaptations, and nothing is more fun than one of the swashbuckling plays, full of swordfights and intrigue and great acting and scenic design. Be sure to see their new show The Count of Monte Cristo. The Tribune gives it 3 and a half stars.

The Raven Theatre’s new Season doesn’t start for a couple of weeks, but dig it.

Other local theatres include The Side Project and Theo Ubique, which has often featured Cunneen’s aluma/chanteuse Danielle Brothers. If you know of any good theatre in the vicinity we’re not promoting, leave a note at the bar for Bill, or maybe there’s some comment section somewhere on this site that I just don’t know about. . . Chris Jones at the Trib reviews Theo Ubique’s new show too.

And these guys have set themselves a very interesting task. Cunneen’s is the 32nd “Old Style” bar they have visited.
